UFO, drowned city and manure of wild horses

Our mentor Stelyan was so kind and took us to the very top of the Central Balkans were the Buzludzha Monument is placed. Probably the first though which comes in everyones mind seeing this brutalist architectural style building is  "UFO???".

This odd looking structure as well as many other monuments or statues was build in honor of communism. But back in the days this building had a purpose. Now the both outside and inside is quite destroyed, but its interior used to look magnificent (red carpet, paintings all over the walls, etc.), when the communists held their special meetings to discuss their five-year plans.

But nowadays the only meeting attenders are wild horses, who leave their surprises behind.

And whats even more interesting, from here the Koprinka Reservoir is visible very well. Under the water is drowned city! It reminds of stories of the lost city Atlantis... But this is the Thracian city Seuthpolis, which was the capital of  Kingdom of Odrysae, that was very powerful around the time of Alexander the Great. This remarkable city was uncovered during the construction of Koprinka damb (1948-1954).  At the same time Researchers discovered three tombs in which they found many luxurious and precious artifacts. Some of them are displayed at local Kazanlak museum.

But the biggest surprise I received was Stelyans and his friends musical performance.
Sorry for bad quality video. Somehow blogger spoils it. :(
This place acoustic is perfect for playing musical instruments indeed. Bujidar and the guy with abnormally long dreadlocks are playing Bulgarian national instrument- backpipe.
After their performance the UFO was slowly disappearing as the clouds surrounded the Buzludzha peak...
